French parliament on Thursday voted to extend the country's emergency state up to November 1, the first move since a suicide bomber and gunmen killed 230 people in attacks in Paris in late 2015. According to Reuters, this July 6, 2017, release.
All parliamentarians support the expansion, except that Jean-Luc Melenchon's left-wing French Unbowed parliamentarians and members of the Communist Party, who have labeled it as "dangerous", threaten citizens' freedom.
France, which is part of the US-led coalition against Islamic State rebels in Iraq and Syria, has been under constant attack by Islamic State rebels since early 2015.
